Terms of service

Overview

Welcome to Cartridges Online! The terms "we", "us" and "our" refer to Cartridges Online Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 14721279, VAT registration GB 444 4462 94), trading as Cartridges Online. We operate this store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services, in order to provide you, the customer, with a curated shopping experience (the "Services"). Cartridges Online is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you.

These terms and conditions, together with any policies referenced in them (these "Terms of Service" or "Terms"), describe your rights and responsibilities when you use the Services. Please read them carefully. By visiting, interacting with or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Services.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Section 1 — Access and account

By agreeing to these Terms, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or that you are at least 16 and have the consent of a parent or guardian to use the Services.

To use the Services, including purchasing any of the products we offer, you may be asked to provide certain information, such as your email address and billing, payment and shipping information. You confirm that all information you provide is correct, current and complete, and that you have all rights necessary to provide it. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity on your account. You may not transfer, sell or assign your account to any other person.

Section 2 — Our products

We sell two ranges: Cartridges Online own-brand compatible and remanufactured cartridges, and genuine (OEM) cartridges made by the printer manufacturer. Every product page states clearly which it is. Our own-brand cartridges are not manufactured by the printer brand; their page yields match the original manufacturer's equivalents, and using them cannot void your printer manufacturer's warranty.

Printer manufacturer brand names and model numbers (for example Brother, HP, Canon, Epson) are used on this site solely to indicate which printers our products fit. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners, and no affiliation with or endorsement by any printer manufacturer is implied.

We have made every effort to represent our products accurately. Colours and product or packaging appearance may differ slightly from how they appear on your screen. Product descriptions may change at any time, and we may discontinue any product or limit quantities on a case-by-case basis.

Everything we supply is covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee, our own-brand cartridges by a 1-year warranty and our printer protection guarantee — see our guarantee page and Refund Policy for details.

Section 3 — Orders

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase. Your order is accepted, and a contract formed, when we despatch your goods and send you a shipping confirmation; we must receive and process your payment before your order is accepted. We may decline or cancel an order before despatch — for example where an item is unavailable, where there has been an obvious pricing or description error, or where we suspect fraud. If we do not accept, change or cancel an order, we will notify you using the contact details provided with the order, and if you have already paid we will refund you in full.

Returns, exchanges and cancellations are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy, which includes your 14-day statutory cancellation right as a consumer and our extended 30-day return period on unopened cartridges.

Purchases are for your own personal or business use and not for resale, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

Section 4 — Prices and billing

All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate (the ex-VAT price is also displayed for business buyers), and a VAT invoice is provided with every order. Delivery is free on every UK order. Prices, discounts and promotions are subject to change without notice; the price charged is the price in effect when your order is placed, as set out in your order confirmation email. Promotions may be governed by separate terms, which take precedence over these Terms if there is a conflict.

You agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase, payment and account information, to keep it up to date, and that you are authorised to use the payment method you provide.

Section 5 — Shipping and delivery

Delivery is free on every UK order, and orders placed before 3pm on a business day are normally despatched the same day. Delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed; we are not responsible for delays caused by carriers or events outside our control, though we will keep you informed. If you are a consumer, the goods are your responsibility from the moment they are delivered to your address, and ownership passes once we have received payment in full. If you are a business customer, risk passes to you when we transfer the products to the carrier. See our Shipping Policy for full details.

Section 6 — Trade and business accounts

We offer business accounts with 30-day invoice terms, subject to credit approval and a credit limit which we may vary or withdraw at any time. Invoices unpaid after their due date may incur interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. If you buy in the course of business, the consumer cancellation rights referred to in Section 3 do not apply to you, and the limitation of liability in Section 18 applies.

Section 7 — Intellectual property

Our Services — including all text, displays, images, graphics, product reviews, video and audio, and their design, selection and arrangement — are owned by Cartridges Online, its affiliates or licensors, and are protected by United Kingdom and international copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. These Terms permit you to use the Services for your personal or internal business use only; you must not reproduce, distribute, modify, republish or exploit any material on the Services without our prior written consent. Cartridges Online's name and logo are our trade marks; Shopify's name and logo are trade marks of Shopify; all other names, logos and product names — including printer manufacturers' marks — are the trade marks of their respective owners (see Section 2).

Section 8 — Optional tools and third-party links

The Services may give you access to third-party tools and may contain links to third-party websites. We provide access to third-party tools "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind and without endorsement, and we are not responsible for the content or accuracy of third-party materials or websites. Purchases you make from third parties are at your own risk, and complaints or questions about third-party products should be directed to the third party.

Section 9 — Relationship with Shopify

Cartridges Online is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. However, any sales and purchases you make in our Store are made directly with Cartridges Online. By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of any sales between you and Cartridges Online, including any injury, damage, or loss resulting from purchased products and services. You hereby expressly release Shopify and its affiliates from all claims, damages, and liabilities arising from or related to your purchases and transactions with Cartridges Online.

Section 10 — Privacy

All personal information we collect through the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy. Because the Services are hosted by Shopify, Shopify also collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them; information you submit may be shared with Shopify and with third parties, which may be located outside the UK, in order to provide services to you.

Section 11 — Feedback and reviews

If you submit any ideas, suggestions, feedback, reviews or other content ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, sublicensable, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute and display that Feedback in any medium for any purpose, including commercial use. You confirm that you own or have all necessary rights to your Feedback, that you have disclosed any compensation or incentive received in connection with it, and that it is accurate, lawful, and does not infringe any third party's rights. We may (but are not obliged to) monitor, edit or remove Feedback that we consider unlawful, offensive or otherwise objectionable. We are under no obligation to keep Feedback confidential, to pay compensation for it, or to respond to it.

Section 12 — Errors, inaccuracies and omissions

Occasionally information in the Services may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions relating to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, offers, transit times or availability. We reserve the right to correct any errors and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information is inaccurate, at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order — in which case Section 3 applies and you will be refunded in full).

Section 13 — Prohibited uses

You may use the Services for lawful purposes only. You may not use the Services: (a) for any unlawful or malicious purpose; (b) to violate any applicable law or regulation; (c) to infringe our intellectual property rights or those of others; (d) to harass, abuse, defame or harm any person; (e) to transmit false or misleading information; (f) to send spam or other unsolicited promotional material; (g) to impersonate any person or entity; or (h) to interfere with anyone else's use of the Services. In addition, you agree not to: upload viruses or malicious code; reproduce, copy, extract, sell or exploit any portion of the Services; collect or track the personal information of others; spam, phish or pretext the Services; use any robot, spider, scraper, data-extraction tool or automated means (including AI tools such as agentic AI) to access the Services except as permitted in Section 14; or bypass any security or access-control measures. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, without notice, if we determine you have violated any part of these Terms.

Section 14 — Agents

14.1 This section ("Agent Terms") applies if you use, allow, enable, or cause the deployment of an Agent to access, use, or interact with any Services. "Agent" means any software or service that takes autonomous or semi-autonomous action on behalf of, or at the instruction of, any person or entity and that can be executed on behalf of or using a person's device, without direct supervision.

14.2 No Agent may access, use, or interact with the Services unless, at all times, it identifies itself and operates in strict accordance with the requirements in section 14.4 below. In addition, no Agent may access, use, or interact with the Services if we have requested that the Agent refrain from doing so.

14.3 We may limit, including by technical measures, whether and how any Agent accesses, uses, and interacts with the Services.

14.4 Agents must: (i) in all HTTP/HTTPS requests, identify that the request is from an Agent and disclose the name of the Agent by including the following in the request's user agent string: "Agent/[agent name]"; (ii) not conceal or obfuscate that any access, use, or interactions are from an Agent, such as by (a) mimicking human behaviour and interaction patterns, or (b) completing or circumventing CAPTCHAs or measures intended to distinguish computer use from humans; (iii) respond truthfully to any question or prompt seeking to determine if interactions are coming from a human or a computer; and (iv) not circumvent or otherwise avoid any measure intended to block, limit, modify, or control whether and how Agents access, use, or interact with the Services.

Section 15 — Termination

We may terminate this agreement or your access to the Services (or any part of them) at any time without notice, and you will remain liable for all amounts due up to and including the date of termination. Sections which by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Feedback, Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Severability, Waiver and Entire Agreement, Governing Law and Privacy — will continue to apply.

Section 16 — Disclaimer

The information presented on or through the Services is made available for general information purposes, and we do not warrant its accuracy, completeness or usefulness. Except as expressly stated in these Terms or required by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available", and we do not guarantee that your use of the Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free.

This disclaimer does not apply to the products you buy from us. As a consumer you have legal rights in relation to products that are faulty or not as described, and everything we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Our guarantees in Section 2 apply in addition to those rights.

Section 17 — Our liability to consumers

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss and damage caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable, and we are not liable for business losses if you use the products for commercial purposes.

Section 18 — Our liability to business customers

If you are a business customer, then subject to Section 17's first sentence: our total liability arising from or in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for the products concerned, and we shall not be liable for loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of business, business interruption, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss, whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility. This limitation also applies for the benefit of our partners, directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, service providers and licensors, and those of Shopify and its affiliates.

Section 19 — Indemnification (business customers)

If you use the Services in the course of business, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Cartridges Online, Shopify, and our respective affiliates, partners, officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors, licensors and service providers from any losses, damages, liabilities or claims, including reasonable legal fees, payable to any third party due to or arising out of (1) your breach of these Terms or the documents they incorporate by reference, (2) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or (3) your access to and use of the Services.

Section 20 — Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, it shall be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law, the unenforceable portion shall be deemed severed, and the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.

Section 21 — Waiver; entire agreement

Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. These Terms and the policies posted by us on this site constitute the entire agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Services, superseding any prior agreements, communications and proposals between you and us. This does not exclude or limit any liability for fraud, and does not affect a consumer's statutory rights.

Section 22 — Assignment

You may not transfer or assign these Terms or any of your rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may transfer or assign these Terms and our rights and obligations to another organisation; we will tell you if this happens and it will not affect your rights under these Terms.

Section 23 — Governing law

These Terms, and any separate agreements under which we provide you Services, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the part of the UK where you live.

Section 24 — Changes to these Terms

You can review the most current version of these Terms at any time on this page. We may update, change or replace any part of these Terms by posting updates to our website; the version published when you place your order is the one that applies to that order. We will notify you of material changes in accordance with applicable law. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
